Integrations · Codex CLI

Know when Codex is waiting for you.

Hand Codex a task and get back to your own work. When a turn completes, the notch tells you Codex is waiting — so a finished session never sits idle in a background terminal.

Coming in v1 Included with NotchPulse Pro

What you’ll see

  • Working — “Codex · your-project” while a session is active.
  • Waiting for you — each completed turn, marked important, with a subtle celebration.
  • Sessions quietly complete after ten minutes without activity.

How it connects

  • Codex’s supported notify program in ~/.codex/config.toml, called on events like agent-turn-complete.
  • Optionally, NotchPulse watches Codex’s session folder for new sessions — reading only event types and timestamps.
  • v1 adds notchpulse hooks install codex, which keeps any notifier you already use by chaining it.

What NotchPulse never uploads

  • Prompts, responses and conversation history.
  • Code, diffs, command output or file contents.
  • The contents of Codex’s session files — never read, let alone uploaded.

What it can’t see

  • Approval requests — only if your Codex version sends a notification for them. Otherwise this is a known gap, and NotchPulse tells you so.
  • Per-tool progress and cost.
  • Codex’s session file format is internal and may change; if it does, NotchPulse falls back to the notify program alone.
