What’s new in NotchPulse.

Progress toward 1.0, in the open.

0.1 — in development In development

Not yet released. Internal development builds only.

Foundation

  • Native Swift app with a clean module structure: Core, Platform, Features and UI.
  • Reproducible build script that produces a signed development app.
  • Written contracts for the local API, the Activity schema and license entitlements.
  • Architecture, security, privacy and permissions documented before features ship.

Core

  • Activity engine: one model for every live thing — agents, builds, deploys, payments, timers.
  • Island state machine: hidden, glance, compact, expanded, interactive, attention and celebration. Attention always wins.
  • Local Live Activity API over a user-only Unix socket, and the notchpulse CLI.
  • The island renders around the physical notch, and as a floating pill on notchless Macs and external displays.
  • Claude Code hooks working through the CLI.
  • First idle measurement on a debug build: about 0.02 % of one CPU core and an 18 MB memory footprint with nothing to show. Full profiling of release builds comes later.

Recently added

  • Pip, an original mascot, now stars in every reaction; preview them all in Settings → Reactions & Pip.
  • Notch styles: presets, custom colors and gradients, border glow, roundness and size, with a live preview.
  • Optional notifications in the notch: other apps’ banners appear in the notch instead of the corner (Accessibility, opt-in, nothing stored).
  • A redesigned Settings window with a sidebar, plus automatic updates with a beta channel.
  • Security audit with 18 fixes, and a performance pass: idle and open-notch CPU now close to zero.
  • Free forever, a 7-day Pro trial with no card, and Pro Lifetime that unlocks every Pro feature.
