Integrations · Claude Code

Claude Code, at a glance.

Run several Claude Code sessions and stop checking terminals. NotchPulse shows each session as it works, and the moment one needs a decision, the island asks — then takes you straight to the right terminal.

Coming in v1 Included with NotchPulse Pro

What you’ll see

  • Working — “Claude · your-project” with the current step, like “Editing files” or “Running Bash”.
  • Permission needed — the island expands with the tool name and an Open Terminal button.
  • Waiting for you — when Claude is idle and needs input.
  • Finished — a subtle celebration that lingers a few seconds, then gets out of the way.
  • Subagent finished and context compaction as quiet status updates.

How it connects

  • Claude Code hooks — commands Claude runs locally on events like a permission prompt or stop.
  • Each hook calls notchpulse, which writes one message to the app’s local socket and exits within 100 ms.
  • v1 adds notchpulse hooks install claude: it merges entries into ~/.claude/settings.json, backs the file up first, and can be removed exactly with uninstall.
  • No network connection is involved at any point.

What NotchPulse never uploads

  • Your prompts, and Claude’s responses or transcripts.
  • Source code, file contents, diffs or patches.
  • Tool inputs and outputs, including the commands Claude runs.
  • Transcript paths. Only the project folder’s name is shown, and it’s hidden while you present.

What it can’t see

  • No approving from the notch in v1. The notch tells you a decision is needed and brings the terminal forward; you approve there, where you can see the full command. An opt-in “approve from the island” is on the roadmap.
  • Token usage and cost — they aren’t in hook events.
  • A progress percentage — agent tasks don’t have one.
  • Sessions that started before hooks were installed.

Set it up today

Until the installer command ships, add these hooks to .claude/settings.json in your project, or to ~/.claude/settings.json for every project:

.claude/settings.json
{
  "hooks": {
    "Notification": [{ "hooks": [{ "type": "command",
      "command": "notchpulse notify 'Claude needs your input' --source claudeCode --priority important" }] }],
    "Stop": [{ "hooks": [{ "type": "command",
      "command": "notchpulse notify 'Claude finished' --source claudeCode" }] }]
  }
}

NotchPulse receives only the fixed titles in these commands. More in the developer docs.
